Injured Turtle Trauma Centres
There may be no bigger threat to Ontario's turtles than that of busy roads and highways. Countless turtles are run over every year and killed on Ontario's roads. Seven of our 8 native turtle species are threatened, and those most often killed are females travelling to nesting areas. The loss of females in particular is devastating to turtle populations. Adopt-A-Pond provides many opportunities to become involved in conserving our turtles and informing others about the threats they face.
