Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup
The Toronto Zoo has been a proud participant in the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup for several years. The Vancouver Aquarium started the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup program over 13 years ago, and the program has grown from a local beach cleanup in BC to a national program with volunteers in every province and territory.
Each September we join hundreds of thousands of volunteers from around the world to do our part in the International Coastal Cleanup (ICC), an international effort coordinated by the Ocean Conservancy.
The Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup brings the community together to achieve measurable impacts on the environment, both locally and globally. Through individual action, nearly one million kilograms of shoreline litter has been removed from our fragile ecosystem since 1997. Aquatic and shoreline litter harms more than just fish - the GCSC helps turtles and frogs too!
